JFK’s legacy reconsidered on this grim anniversary

Read my archived 2013 review via this BookLoons link.

In the fall of 1963, I began college as a history major; news of Kennedy’s murder came while I sat in Professor Bergman’s American history class. Eight months later my father died quite suddenly. Then, just prior to Christmas in 1965, I was drafted into the military. I cannot think of one event in those terrible 1960s without thinking also of the others. The erratic trajectory of my life has been forever influenced by those three events. And so it goes.
